"Philanthropy etymologically means "the love of humanity", in
the sense of "what it is to be human", the essence of our humanity. In
modern practical terms, it is "private initiatives for public good,
focusing on quality of life"—balancing the social-scientific aspect
emphasized in the twentieth century, with the long-traditional and
original humanistic core of the word's ancient coinage.
Put simply, philanthropy is the pursuit of excellence in every facet
of human life, for every human life, by imagining and implementing new
systems, to bring that philosophy to fruition." (definition courtesy of Wikipedia's web site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philanthropy#Uses_of_the_word)
It is the philosophy of Reginald Loftin that all human beings should have charitable aspects in their life. As a Deacon at his church, New Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Dallas, Reginald is involved in different projects sponsored by the church. By doing this, he strives to make the world a better place for everyone. Some of his work has included donations of his time and services to the following charitable events:
- All Kids Count, a family fun event held for special needs children and their families by the organization, Love for Kids
- Golf Tournaments hosted by various major construction companies in the DFW area benefiting area food banks and homeless shelters
- Breast cancer and Prostate cancer screening programs held by New Mount Gilead Baptist Church
- Blood drives benefiting Carter Blood Bank in Dallas
